Celebrating five years at Hail Creek

Hail Creek Mine celebrated five years of operation in August, holding a Family Muster day at the site to mark the occasion.

More than 500 employees and their families attended the event which featured a range of activities and displays, including guided tours of the mine and employee village and a range of interactive display booths.

Hail Creek Mine general manager operations Andrew Woodley said the day was a great opportunity for employees to show their families where they work.

“Over the past five years we have received a number of awards at local, state and national levels for our commitment to sustainable development and ensuring positive environmental, social and economic outcomes for our surrounding communities,” Andrew said.

“The source of our success is our people, and we would not have achieved this recognition if it wasn’t for their dedication and commitment.

“This family day was a way of thanking our workforce for their hard work on the project since we commenced operations.”

Adults and children enjoyed the interactive displays set up to showcase the site’s achievements in the areas of Environment, Cultural Heritage and Health and Safety.

Representatives of the Wiri People, the Traditional Owners of the land on which Hail Creek Mine operates, displayed some of the Aboriginal artefacts found on the mine site.

Employees and their families were taken to and from Mackay by charter buses, and enjoyed a barbecue lunch at the employee village after touring the mine site.

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make the family day a great success and we look forward to many more safe and productive years at Hail Creek Mine.
